Satellites play a crucial role in modern life, enabling everything from global communication to weather forecasting and scientific research. As of early 2024, the number of operational satellites in orbit around Earth has reached an all-time high.
According to the latest data from the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) and other sources, there are approximately 7,560 operational satellites in space as of early 2024. This figure is constantly changing as new satellites are launched and older ones are decommissioned or become non-operational.
