Although Geographic Information Systems may sound like a very cool and complex term, once you step into the world of GIS, you will find yourself wanting to learn more. Let’s start learning together.

In its simplest sense, GIS (GIS) is a system that allows you to collect, manage and analyze any data related to any geographically defined object. What is important here is that the object must have a geographic data. In short:

Map + Data = GIS

The first thing that comes to mind as a beginner is where you can use the information you have learned. GIS is about participation, sharing and collaboration. You can use it in a variety of different fields, from health and insurance to telecommunications, transportation to oil, electricity and natural gas services.

How does GIS work? We can answer this in four steps.

Data: GIS combines several different layers of data using spatial location. Images, features and chart-linked spreadsheets and tables can be used as data.

Analysis: Perhaps the most human-oriented part of GIS is analysis. Spatial analysis helps you gain new perspectives in assessing suitability and capability, making predictions and assumptions, interpreting and understanding, and, more importantly, understanding and decision making.

Applications: Applications provide focused user experiences to work and implement GIS for everyone. GIS applications work almost anywhere: on your mobile phone, tablet, web browser and desktop.
